Do you offer other services for families impacted by an addicted family member?

Does Narcan encourage substance use?

No! The only thing Narcan encourages is breathing. Research has shown no evidence of Narcan leading to drug use.

How can I tell if someone is addicted to opioids?

It’s not so much the signs of addiction, but the signs of withdrawal that you are looking for.  Look for nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle cramping, goose bumps, agitation, excessive sweating, anxiety, yawning often, and dilated pupils.

I don’t have an opioid addiction, but another substance addiction, can you still help me?

Yes, we can help!  We have access to a multitude of resources including ones for alcohol and other substances, along with connections to peer support and mental health services.

I have a family member who has a substance abuse problem. What can I do?

The family member has to want help.  If the family member decides they need our assistance, we prefer that they call us at 850-718-0000 or email us at  communityparamedic@jacksoncountyfl.gov  All calls are confidential.

The Community Paramedic Program offers a variety of services including no-cost naloxone, medication assisted treatment, quality of life improvement program, and naloxone education and training.
