Protecting Beekeepers During Mosquito Season
Jackson County’s mosquito control program cannot spray within one mile of any known apiaries (bee colonies). To ensure pollinators are protected while mosquitoes are managed, it is essential that all beekeepers register their apiaries with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS). The FDACS registry is the list used by the Florida Department of Health team for mosquito control planning.
- Register Your Apiary: If you own or know of an apiary that is not registered, please register at FDACS Beekeeper Registration.
- Provide Location Information: Call the Florida Department of Health in Jackson County at 850-482-9227 to share your apiary’s location so it can be protected now and in future mosquito seasons.
Jackson County Department of Health provides mosquito control through larviciding, adulticiding, briquettes, and truck-mounted spraying, and relies on community participation to help safeguard bees.
Working together, we can control mosquitoes while protecting pollinators.
