Our Goal – Voluntary Compliance

Our priority is public education in order to achieve voluntary compliance. The most important action a property owner can take is to correct the violation within the timeframe allowed, which saves everyone time and money. If additional time is required to correct a violation, the individual should speak to the Code Enforcement Officer. We are willing to grant reasonable requests whenever possible in order to achieve compliance.

What we do!

It is the duty of the Code Enforcement Officer to enforce the Jackson County Code of Ordinances. The Officer is responsible for investigation of complaints of violations, as well as violations observed while patrolling the unincorporated areas of the county.

General Enforcement Procedures

  1. A Courtesy Card or a notice of violation(s) is issued giving a reasonable period of time for compliance.
  2. If the violation is not corrected within the time period granted, it could be designated a public nuisance by the Code Enforcement Officer and formal enforcement actions taken.
  3. Violators may be issued a citation with fines assessed and may have to appear before the County Court Judge concerning noncompliance of violations.
