“FOR”
Staff Service Project: Signature HealthCARE
Jackson County, FL. – July, 2022, the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners Department Directors are taking part in monthly service projects in effort to engage more directly with the communities they serve.
On behalf of the JCBOCC, County Administrator, Wilanne Daniels, has led County Staff in a public relations campaign under the moniker of “FOR”, which was launched at the beginning of the year. Part of the “FOR” campaign is engaging the public through service projects.
Every local government faces the challenge of managing its relationship with the public. A good relationship is built on trust, which comes with time and familiarity. The public perception of local government is often of faceless rule makers and regulatory offices. Mrs. Daniels and County staff recognized that in order to change that perception, they needed to connect more directly with our communities. This is where the service projects come in.
The core responsibility of every single position under the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners is public service. In other words, we work “FOR” the people. In fact, everything we do is focused on the County as a whole, the future of the County, and the individual citizen. That is where we get the tagline of the campaign, “For Jackson, For the Future, For You.” The majority of the services we provide are done away from the public, meaning, not in direct contact. In an office, in a truck, on a dirt road, disconnected from the people. These service projects benefit us just as much as the public, reminding us of who we serve and why we serve. After every project, our staff return to work encouraged with renewed energy, passion, and vision.
This month our staff spent some time with citizens who reside at Signature HealthCARE in Graceville. The time we spent there were extremely fruitful. We played games, visited rooms, and traded stories with residents. Graceville is one of the most charming municipalities in Jackson County and home to equally charming people. We were welcomed with warm smiles and grateful hearts. All our service projects are meaningful to us as staff, but this one was especially impactful. Thank you to the staff and residents of Signature.
