Jackson County Announces Transition to Waste Pro for Garbage Collection Services – Service Begins January 2, 2026
Jackson County, FL. – The Jackson County Board of County Commissioners is providing an update regarding the upcoming transition to Waste Pro of Florida, Inc. for garbage collection services in the unincorporated areas of Jackson County. This change applies only to customers outside municipal city limits. Residents and businesses within city limits will continue receiving the same service from their respective cities.
As coordination continues between Waste Pro and Waste Management, updated information has been provided that differs from the initial transition details released earlier this week. The County and both service providers are working closely to ensure the process remains as smooth as possible. As additional updates arise, the public will be informed promptly.
SERVICE START DATE & COLLECTION SCHEDULE
Waste Pro remains scheduled to mobilize by January 1, 2026, with regular residential solid waste collection beginning January 2, 2026. Collection days will remain the same unless Waste Pro provides direct notice of a change such as the cart tag or postcard.
UPDATED CART/DUMPSTER DELIVERY PROCESS
Waste Pro will begin delivering new carts/dumpsters the week of December 8, 2025. Updated coordination between Waste Management and Waste Pro will now allow for a seamless cart exchange process:
- On your regular pickup day beginning the week of 12/8, Waste Management will empty your existing WM cart as usual.
- The Waste Management cart will then be exchanged for a new Waste Pro (WP) cart/dumpster.
- Waste Management will continue servicing these new WP carts through December 31, 2025.
- Waste Pro will officially begin servicing them starting January 2, 2026.
- If you have an additional Waste Management cart currently, you will receive an additional new Waste Pro (WP) cart. No need to request an additional cart at this time. If you do NOT currently have an additional cart and would like to add one for a fee, customers can contact Waste Pro directly.
If a resident does not receive a new cart/dumpster by December 19, 2025, they should contact Waste Pro’s office at (850) 993-2070.
CUSTOMER INFORMATION AND ACCOUNT SETUP
If you are a current, active Waste Management customer, no action is required at this time to receive a new Waste Pro cart or to begin service. Customers will receive information in their first quarterly bill by the beginning of January about how to set up payment including autopay. You will receive an informational cart tag with your cart delivery and a postcard in the mail soon.
Some customers may receive Waste Pro carts before receiving the above information, but they may begin using the new cart immediately and continue normal service.
Any change to the number of carts or dumpster sizes should be communicated directly to Waste Pro. Commercial customers will follow this same process.
PREPAID SERVICE WITH WASTE MANAGEMENT
If a customer has prepaid Waste Management for service beyond December 31, 2025, those funds will be credited back to the customer. Customers should contact Waste Management directly if any issues arise.
COMMITMENT TO A SMOOTH TRANSITION
Jackson County greatly appreciates the patience and cooperation of our residents and businesses throughout this transition. The County will continue sharing updates as information is finalized to ensure the community receives clear and accurate guidance.
For any questions regarding new carts, billing, or service details, customers are encouraged to contact Waste Pro’s local office directly at (850) 993-2070.
